A Note to Parents

For the grown-ups, before they read to the little ones.

Every generation tells stories a little differently. For centuries, parents, grandparents, Nanis, Dadis and storytellers have quietly adapted tales for the children sitting beside them. They softened frightening moments, skipped parts that didn’t feel right, answered curious “Why?” questions, and shaped each story with love.

Kahani Nani simply continues that tradition.

Some of these stories are thousands of years old. Others have travelled across countries and cultures before finding their way here. Wherever they came from, they all carry timeless ideas about kindness, courage, honesty, friendship, curiosity and resilience.

Sometimes we’ve changed a name so a young child can connect more easily. Sometimes we’ve removed unnecessary violence or fear. Sometimes we’ve imagined what might have happened after the original ending. And sometimes we’ve simply told the story in language that feels warm and familiar today.

Our promise is simple.

We will always honour the heart of the story, even when we gently reshape its details.

These stories are not meant to replace the originals. They are an invitation to discover them. As your children grow, we hope they’ll return to the classic versions, compare them, question them, and make them their own.

Most of all, we hope these stories become moments you share together.

Because children rarely remember every word of a story.

But they never forget the person who told it.

With love,

Nani 🪔
